This second installment of the build instructions completes the mechanical assembly of the Sumpod. The right side panel is left off for now not only to do the assembly, but also to allow for final wiring. Sypher, thanks for your comments on the pictures and I’ve tried to keep the backgrounds clean and include lots of closeups.
The next installment will be building the hot end. Lots of interesting stuff there!
Sumpod Build Part 2
Hi,
must say I am impressed with your writeup.
Few points:
The screws can go throught the belt with a cup washer. The belt is reinforced.
I placed the x switch off centre at the back of the machine on the underneath of the top plate, although your way works aswell.
The fan as you guessed is wired to the 12v supply, along with the power, so its on whilst the power is on. The slot should hold it in place although a bit of hot glue would be ok.
The m10 bolt is sufficient to hold the push fitting on the feeder. Seems to fit ok on those parts although will check again.
Keep up the good work, knew you would be able to work it out.
Will though produce a manual soon.
The centre back cutout is for the hotend, thermistor, fan and the x limit switch. This is too seperate the signal from the motors.
